Hong Kong & Macau (12 Oct – 17 Oct)

I’ve planned to go to HK last year…or can said that is few years back, but during that time I still don’t have the financial capability….

When think back about HK, I started to know HK scenes from a MTV from a gang of HK singers… The MV is shooting something like the roadside of some modern shopping spree..that time I was only a little small girl in primary school..but I feel that the scenes are so beautiful..and I do wanted to go to the places like that..

So last year of Sept 2010, during few last hours before the Airasia 0 fare promo start, I’ve called few of my classmates who can join me..at last just three of us..better than nobody accompanying me..the best part is that another classmate wished to join me, and she able to booked the same flight and time on this year…so fortunate..

I’ve done a lot of research, using company’s resources to print and download lots of information from online whenever I have free time after office hours..browsing through ppl’s blogs, official websites, asked my bro & sisters who been there before..

The feeling of doing research is something I really enjoy, and it can makes me happy..eventhough sometime I do feel tired, but when it comes to planning and researching for good places,foods,transportation..it makes me feel so useful..

Finally, the itinerary is completed, 1 week before our trip..all by myself..all I have discussed with my classmates is what to bring to there, where are we going, our hotel,transportation,etc..they all said can depend on me,I do feel stressed, because I afraid of uncertain situations that might happen when we are at HK..but since they promised it won’t be that bad,my itinerary plan will goes on..

Day 1:
On early morning after check-in at 5.30am, we had Mcdonald’s breakfast. Slept in plan for the whole 4hours..because I was really tired and regretted didn’t sleep earlier..Reached HK airport, collected our luggage, and 1st plan in itinerary plan goes wrong. Planned to check-in for Turbojet in HK airport, it ended up taking bus to the Turbojet terminal..there’s gone 1hour from planned itinerary..Everyone was exhausted for having long flight and ferry ride to Macau..

Reached Hotel Royal Macau, rooms havn’t been ready yet, so the staff recommended us to have lunch at nearby stall. That’s good enough, as we’ve been starving since the ferry ride. Had a simple lunch with fried rice, fried squid ink noodles, pork chop bun, curry bun, Ying Yong iced tea…it do taste great..or is it because we are starving?? The waitress (aunty) there given me the 1st impression is not-really-that-good-service because she ignored us when we are asking her opinion. But my brother said that is their norm.. Ok, forgiven then.

When back to our hotel, Wow~ Really do look nice and grand and worthy for RM200.00 per room..snapping photos in our room and taken a rush bath before heading to our next destinations. My itinerary for that day was totally out of my control.  First is because we are late, and the staff from the hotel suggested another kind of route for us for our whole stays in Macau..majority wins..

So at 5pm, we headed to Macau tower by shuttle bus, and since it is still bright, we wasted time to snap some photos outdoor. When is dark enough, we went into the tower, and found out that night was quite foggy, and it rains. Very few people went up there, and we can’t see the view clearly. Disappointed, we went down there to head for next place, Casinos. Waiting for bus, which come late, and we taken a bus to Wynn Casino with a help from local girl, who quite friendly and worried we will get lost. Rains still pouring, but luckily it stops when we arrived at Lisboa Casino. It’s the 1st time I saw a so grand casino. Crystal chandeliers as decorations for everywhere, including the toilets. Watched a short dancing shows and we decided to go back to hotel. And that’s the moment we are lost..Haha.

Depending on our memory during the day, we slowly walked and trying to recognize any similar roads that we saw before..Four of us were guessing here and there, and we saw a wantan mee stalls..ordered 4 bowls of different kinds of ingredients, we felt satisfied. I told the owner that we can’t find such a big wantan back in Malaysia. They don’t have preserved green chillies, only some kind of XO chilies paste oil, but it is really spicy, only that it lacks the aroma of chilies paste that we usually have in Malaysia. Finally, one of my friend found our way back to hotel.. Walking pass an ice-cream stall (DQ), we decided to go in have some chilled drinks. Walking pass Watson, we went in and started shopping~ We met a twin babies and their guardian, a Thailand guy. The twins are so cute and we started snapping photos with them. The guardian is so friendly and we started to chat. He was so surprised that we are Malaysian, the neighbouring country. I think he will start recapping his memory that night.

Day 2:
Slept soundly till 7am the next day, and the sky is so bright. Too early to be this bright. We walked down the road, searching for the St Paul Church. And it starts to rain again~ Reached church, and it stopped rain for 10mins.We grab this opportunity to snap, since is lesser people. Nobody to block our views. Nice. Waiting for the famous restaurant (WongChiKei) to open at 10am,we snapped a lot of humorous photos at Historic Centre. Ate the most recommended noodles, which we think not that tasty, we head to buy biscuits at Koi Kei. We do feel regretted to buy so early, because we need to walk with big bags back to hotel. Ate our 1st Portuguese egg tart at Koi Kei, we head to find Margaret's café for the famous Portuguese egg tart. One the way we saw another bakery selling Portuguese egg tarts and pork chop, so we ate the 2nd egg tart & pork chop. Full!!!! We lost in the middle of finding a café, and a helpful aunty brought us half of the way down. Ate our 3rd egg tart and rush back to hotel since is almost time to check-out and take shuttle bus to Venetian Macau at 12pm. We passed by the YeeShun DoubleBoiled Milk, but none of us have the space to fill in the milk anymore plus we are almost late for check-out.

Reached Venetian Macau at 12.30pm, we wandered around till 2pm. Reserved too much time there, but still okey because we can enjoy our time to shop and snapped a lot lots of photos. Took shuttle bus to the ferry terminal, headed back to HK again, in one hour time. This time we all slept soundly. We are almost late and we only have half hour before our final check-in time at 5pm. We ran all the way down from ferry terminal to the rail-station. Thought we are can arrive on time, suddenly I realized that we missed our stop. I was unsure, my friend said nope, we are still far away from our stop, but I feel something is not right. Other two friends are clueless. Sure they are clueless, because I’m the only one who planned the routes. Asked a secondary school cute guy, confirmed, we missed our stop and should get down at “Kam Chung”.. Kam Chung? What the hell is there I asked myself. What’s the English name for the stop I asked. He shyly answered Admiralty Station. Hahaha. Cute.

Finally we reached the GoldenCrown guesthouse, 5mins late. That’s ok. We again decided to change the itinerary abit, cutting out the Park Lane Shopper's Boulevard. We rested, get a good bath, and walk to Avenue of Stars. We stop at nearby shopping mall for a light dinner, a Japanese bento and dimsum…Satisfied..Headed to East TST station, we reached the Avenue of Stars. Some miscommunication happened. Two of my friends misunderstood me for asking them to book a nice place for watching the laser show. I thought they just lazy for not following us to look around on the hand prints. After the show ended, we found our friends, and one of them is angry. I kept silent. Neither us are wronged I think. She repeated the problem triple times; I just ignored and walk a distance far from them ahead. Finally, she stopped and asks for our next destination. I answered Temple Street, and here we okey again.

Taken MTR to Jordan station, we walk around the Temple Street and saw a “Dai Pai Dong” named Arbedeen XxX (forgotten the full name). We ordered claypot brinjals with pork, fried salted chicken, fried rice. Around rm60++. Still acceptable. We started our hunting for souvenirs and bargaining. Legs started to cramp, and we decided to go home. We only walked half of the street, and oh ya~ we saw two Negros fighting at the roadside. Those locals only stand aside, watching. One of the stall owner just keep “Oii, ooii” without trying to stop them. My friend pulls me away from going nearer, as she afraid they might have guns. Police arrived 10mins later. But those Negros are gone. Later we drank herbal tea before heading home.

Day 3:
Slept till 8am and took MTR to HK Island for breakfast. We lost half hour searching for the Honolulu Coffee Shop. Fed-up, we went back to shops nearby the MTR to grab anything that we saw. When we walked passing by a restaurant, we looked at the menu book. Flipping to the menu cover, I read “Honolulu Coffee Shop”..Damn..we laughed and went in. After ate, head to MTR again to take bus to Ocean Park. Met a friendly Pilipino maid, she is also heading to Ocean Park, her boss stayed nearby there. Her English is very well, and she said she works for 15 years already for the same boss. So loyal.

Reached Ocean Park, played a little, four of us went into the toilet for “business”, ate McD, and suddenly I feel unwell. Stomach grouching, dizzy and feel like vomiting. But luckily still able to hold till heading back to hotel at 5pm. But after done taking bath, I started vomiting several times. So I gave up for visiting the Madame Tussauds. Haizzz~ Went to pharmacy bought some meds and oatmeal drinks, slept and watch a drama. Feels good. I even went down to online, seeking help from my brother to help me reload my prepaid phone. Haiz… My friends have great night at Madame Tussauds and the peak view. Eventhough I do feel bit regret, but I do not wish to throwing out all the way to The Peak.

Day 4:
The next morning, I’m super energetic again. But three of them feels sucks, from leg-aching..Haha. Ate breakfast at stalls in the MRT station, we head to Disneyland. We all suddenly become 9years old girls again. It is never too late to visit our so-long famous Disney places and characters. We played from 10am to 10.30pm.. Visited almost every place, and watch twice of the Halloween Parade shows. Finally I saw my crush, the “giant Jack Skellington”. I love him. Hahaha. We totally forgot about dinner, so at last only me and my friend, Arveen who went to nearby café to have a bowl of “Loh Sung Tong” and cheese-baked porkchop rice. Porkchop again. Arveen had pork for the last three days..ahaha. The café is crowded, and it opens till 3am with lots of heavy foods choices.

Day 5:
Today we planned to sleep till a bit late, 9am. Headed to nearby restaurant for ‘char siew rice”, macaroni in soup and toasts. Then we went to Ladies street. Ate desserts from “Hui Lao Shan”Went to Bonjour and Sasa for few hours. Visited the Ladies street at 2pm, shop and bargain again. It’s easier to bargain here as those stall owners are from China. The price can be reduced more than 60%..Omg..thanks for my friend Chloe who is expert in bargaining. Went to Citigate Outlet at 6pm, at dinner at foodcourt. Shop for a while and all stores close at 9pm. Oh my, mis-planned the closing time. Luckily I brought a pair of Crocs sneaker, Chloe a pair of Nike shoes, Arveen some Bodyshop stuff, and HongLeng nothing. Since it close early, we head back to Sasa nearby our hotel, to shop again. I accidently dropt a bottle of perfume “Burberry brand”..luckily is just the 4ml version. It drops, but none saw it. I decided to surrender, but Chloe asked me to put it back. I put it backed, and I went out of the shop for 10mins. Then I come back in again, and nobody do know about the incident. We shops again, and I bought few bottles of perfume from there. Luckily….Then before heading back, Arveen suddenly wanted to eat curry fishballs. She ate 3 sticks.

Day 6:
Went out at 8am, we head to HK island to take DingDing tram. And we are lost. We passed by the Hong Kong's dried seafood street. They dried those sharkfins, abalone and sea cucumber on the roadsides. No wonder those dried seafood looks so dusty. Since we are lost, we get down from the tram, walk awhile and get back to another tram and head back to our hotel. We ate ‘cart noodles and curry fishballs’ as lunch. We packed our stuffs, check-out and went for final shopping at Sasa again. Four of us bought a lot of perfumes, masks and handcream. Took an airport bus, which just opposite of our guesthouse, we feel bit sad for leaving this country. At airport, we decided to use up our small coins and notes. During check-in, Chloe’s luggage needs to be check, as she brought a metal belt in hand luggage. And Hongleng’s leg swollen. Time been dragged and we are late for boarding the plane. We are the final passengers, with the final call. Luckily….

During in the flight, we are starving, because we havn’t had our dinner yet, we ordered Nasi Lemak. Oh, that tasted great. Our very unique sambal and nasi lemak…The taste that we will not forget and reminds us that we are home, to our beloved country.

Two months later, in my memory I only remember few things about HK:
1)      A lot of handsome guys, fair skin, tall, pointed nose, girls are fashionable.
2)      MTR looks a like, so easily get lost and some Hongkies are reluctant to help us. Train is really really long, around 8-10 coaches?
3)      Weather is similar to our cozy 22celcius temperature at night, plus windy at night.
4)      Non-stop visiting Sasa and Bonjour. Available at every corner everywhere. How competitive.
5)      Always late to eat our proper meal
6)      Made “business” at guesthouse,Ocean Park,Disneyland,HK island public toilet.
7)      Disneyland brings back my childlike feelings that slowly been losing over age.
8)   Shop shop shop..alot of beauty stuff and accessories are really cheaper and nicer than Malaysia
